Landfill Expansion -- 04-com-2021
Over the past several years, the City of Melville has been working diligently to develop a risk management plan for its existing landfill that will allow for continued operations to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment's satisfaction.
The key features of the development include:
A clay liner
Leachate collection system with lined collection pond
Scale and guardhouse
Equipment Storage Building
Asbestos storage
Public drop-off for refuse and recyclable materials, including an agriculture recycling area
Composing area for residential waste with the ability to expand composting to accommodate agriculture-based waste.
Roadway development
Levelling of existing site
This project is important to not only the residents and ratepayers of the City of Melville but also for those within the greater region desiring to have a long-term solution for solid waste management. The CIty of Melville is hoping that a qualified contractor completes this work with as much enthusiasm that the City has to see the success of this project.
