Grit Transporting – Wastewater Treatment Plant & Biosolids Facility -- RFQ25-0446
The City of Saskatoon Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) operates digester tanks to stabilize sludge and biosolids, which need periodic cleaning to remove accumulated grit and inorganic solids which reduce the tank volume. The accumulated grit and solids are slurried and pumped to the temporary grit storage ponds at the WWTP. The grit is dewatered as best as possible and allowed to dry for a few months. The dewatered grit and solids then require removal, hauling, and proper disposal. The Biosolids Facility, located north of Saskatoon, thickens and stores biosolids produced at the WWTP which are then spread on nearby farmland.
The City of Saskatoon is seeking a contractor to remove heavy grit from the Biosolids facility and the Wastewater Treatment plant. Approximately 6000 tonnes of contaminated grit is due for removal, which will involve hauling, excavation (WWTP only), and disposal.
