Marketing and Communications Strategy -- 35-1
Meewasin protects, restores, and stewards the natural, cultural, and recreational assets of the Meewasin Valley for the benefit of present and future generations. For more than four decades, Meewasin has served as a steward of one of Canada’s most significant urban river valleys—balancing conservation, access, education, and community use across an increasingly complex and growing region.
Meewasin is now at a pivotal moment in its evolution. As the Saskatoon region continues to experience rapid population growth, intensifying development pressures, and rising public expectations for access to high-quality green spaces, Meewasin is being called upon to do more—at a greater scale and greater visibility.
At the same time, Meewasin is actively exploring the opportunity to become part of Canada’s emerging network of National Urban Parks (NUPs). This potential designation represents a transformational opportunity for the region, bringing national recognition, enhanced conservation outcomes, expanded visitor experiences, and new funding models rooted in reconciliation, community, and long-term stewardship.
To support this next phase of growth, Meewasin requires a comprehensive Marketing and Communications Strategy (“the Strategy”).This Strategy must prepare the organization to operate at a larger scale, communicate more clearly and consistently with diverse audiences, and strengthen public trust and understanding. The Strategy is intended to stand on its own as an actionable marketing and communications roadmap, and to establish the narrative, brand, and audience foundations required for the subsequent development of a Fund Development Strategy.
Meewasin is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced Proponents to develop this Strategy, which will define how marketing, communications, and storytelling efforts are created, coordinated, and managed across the organization. The Strategy must be forward-looking, actionable, and aligned with Meewasin’s mandate, values, and future aspirations, including the potential designation of Meewasin as a National Urban Park.
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to select a Proponent capable of delivering an integrated Strategy that:
• Clarifies and strengthens Meewasin’s brand and narrative to improve understanding of Meewasin’s role, mandate, and impact at a local, regional, and national level;
• Builds organizational and narrative readiness for a future Fund Development Strategy; and
• Supports government relations, advocacy, and partnership-building efforts.
The Strategy will be a foundational tool guiding outreach, engagement, and advocacy efforts over the coming years, ensuring Meewasin is prepared to meet both current operational needs and future funding and growth opportunities.
