The Shaw Centre originally opened in 2009 and is internationally recognized as a state-of-the-art recreational centre and has hosted a variety of elite aquatic events and activities in all aquatic disciplines.  The current timing system and scoreboards in the 50m competition pool were installed during the original construction of the facility and are scheduled to be replaced in 2026.
