The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) operates early detection programs, conducts innovative research and provides safe, patient and family-centered care at two cancer centers within the province. The Information Management Services (IMS) team assists the SCA’s clinical and business teams by providing technology solutions and support in business process to sustain a high level of safety and care to clients, patients and families. The SCA currently operates early cancer detection programs for Breast, Lung, Cervical, and Colorectal Cancer. The SCA has undertaken an initiative to develop and operationalize a single software suite that supports the various early detection programs.
The SCA has initiated the CanCheck Project to replace existing screening software systems with one new system that can support all the early detection programs. CanCheck will be the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency’s single screening software—replacing outdated systems, centralizing information, and streamlining workflows to support the quality delivery of screening services. CanCheck provides clinical and clerical staff in the SCA screening programs with a way to digitally enter, store, and access client information, including but not limited to contact information, demographics, provider information, notes, letters, assessment, questionnaires, calculations, results, etc., and will trigger workflows and automated data flows through the provincial health system to enable a comprehensive digitization of the screening program workflows for client pathways.
The Cancer Agency is looking to replace the current Cervical Screening Program software system with a software system that works within the framework of the newly developed CanCheck software system.
