Following successful reseeding and restoration initiatives within and adjacent to Wanuskewin’s Bison Paddocks, Wanuskewin has seen an interest from visitors regarding native floral species common to Saskatchewan’s Moist-Mixed Grasslands. Wanuskewin is seeking proposals from interested bidders to host consultations with local experts, knowledge keepers and Wanuskewin staff, with the overall purpose to create designs regarding form and function of the following structures;
Interactive Species Displays:
Specialized planter boxes containing ecologically/cultural important floral species, placed in areas of high public traffic to provide visitors with visual, olfactory and tactile learning experiences.
This includes informational signage regarding the species planted, unique ecological or cultural significances, traditional and contemporary uses, identification and ecological characteristics, and potential ecological threats.
Picture Posts
Permanent structures that allow all guests with smartphones to capture spatially-consistent imagery of Wanuskewin’s landscapes, regardless of device.
This includes signage regarding instructions for use, and purpose of the picture posts.
Successful applicants will be expected to incorporate feedback and information from consultations into conceptual designs for both structures, provide cost assessments for fabrication and installation of structures, and create a series of “tender-ready” construction documents to facilitate the eventual installation of both structures.
