The City of Saskatoon Recreation and Community Development Department has established a fence upgrade program to address safety concerns and enhance playability at several of its city managed sport fields.

Two projects are planned for implementation in 2022:

1) Bishop James P. Mahoney District Park softball diamond - includes an upgrade to the existing backstop which will be wider and higher to prevent foul balls from entering the nearby residences and roadway. Bench/side-line fencing will also be added to protect players from being struck by errant balls.

2) Atlantic Park – includes the addition of fencing along the east boundary of the park to prevent soccer balls from entering the nearby roadway. Added fencing will aid in preventing the need for participants to chase after and retrieve balls on Diefenbaker Drive.
